Navajo Horse Fetish

This wonderful horse carving was made by a Navajo carver many years ago and has been in Pennie's collection for over 10 years and she is ready to part with it. It was carved from travertine and the mane and tail are etched into the stone as are the appaloosa spots on its rump. It has black stone inlaid eues and an offering bundle of feathers.

Many Native American people believe that horses were in North America before the colonizers arrived.  Many Native American people have special relationships with horses, and this was evident during the camps at Standing Rock to protect and defend the river.  They represent freedom and safety in travel.  And for those of us lucky enough to have had a powerful relationship with horses, they make wonderful friends.
