Beautiful Bunny

Zuni carver Andres Lementino carved this Pretty Bunny from gleaming white marble with inlaid turquoise eyes.  He made a lovely necklace for it from soft lime green gaspeite with a silver bead in front.  The face is sweetly carved and the ears and paws are softly detailed.  We love how the ears appear to be listening intently.

As we all know, rabbits are soft and timid.  When danger comes they either run very fast to get away or they freeze and do their best to blend in to their environment, but when cornered they will fight like crazy.  Rabbits are very fertile and have lots of babies, so they may make a good gift for families trying to have a baby.

Traditionally, Zuni carvings are symbolically fed cornmeal.   Each Zuni fetish comes in a box with a descriptive card and a tiny bit of corn meal to tide them over until they reach you.
