Native American people pray with eagle feathers which send the prayers to the Creator.  This bracelet has ten beaded feathers in a blue background.  The center row has beads of sunshine in white, yellow, and orange.  Each end has white, yellow, orange, yellow, and black beads in a pattern reminiscent of fire. The beads were attached to leather which is attached to a flexible bracelet.

This Navajo handmade Thunderbird and Flags bracelet is made with faceted beads.  The Thunderbird is in the center, with one US flag upright on one side and one US flag upside down on the other which indicates dire distress.  The beads were attached to leather which is attached to a flexible bracelet.

Two Mediterranean red corals are set in two water drop shaped shadow boxes which have been oxidized to a dark black.  We estimate it was made in the 1960s. This gorgeous ring is a true find!

We love the colors in these vintage, sterling silver Navajo petrified wood earrings!  The colors range from golden brown to darker brown and are very soothing.  The bezel is surrounded by twisted sterling silver wire.  There is a tiny hallmark on the back that is very difficult to make out.

These vintage Navajo earrings were in the collection of the owner of Gathering Tribes for over 30 years.  The center stone is pink, surrounded by garnets, peridot, rainbow moonstones, and a lavender stone.  Three sterling silver feathers dangle from the bottom.  Hallmark D.T. on the back.

Navajo jeweler LaRose Ganadonegro set a natural Blue Diamond turquoise in this elegant ring.  Twisted sterling silver wire surrounds the bezel.  The stone is gorgeous!

This striking sterling silver Navajo handmade ring features one large malachite stone with smaller stones on each side.  Twisted wire surrounds the main stone bezel.  The band is a triple shank.

Red coral is set in a sterling silver shadowbox with a star shaped opening.  The ring was made by Navajo jeweler Janice Spencer.  So affordable!

Navajo jeweler, Etta Belin, made this sterling silver ring and set bright blue turquoise in it.  The flowers, vines, and leaves make it very special!  Adjustable half a size up or down.

Harrison Bitsue is a master at creating tufa cast jewelry, more about the jewelry making method of tufa cast below.  This bracelet has natural turquoise with golden matrix set it in the center.  The sterling silver above and below the turquoise resemble feathers with stamp-work.  The oxidized satin finish gives it a vintage appearance.

Tufa is a volcanic stone which can be as dense as chalk and has an organic texture. The first thing a jeweler does is examine a piece of tufa for any tiny fractures.  If it looks good, the tufa is cut in half and if there is a design, it is carved into the tufa in reverse to how the piece will come out.   There is a pour hole carved into the top and several narrow vents carved into each side.  The two pieces are then bound together tightly and molten silver or gold is poured through the hole at the top.  If there are any microscopic cracks, the tufa explodes when the metal is poured in and the process has to begin again.  This process usually makes one piece of jewelry, but sometimes the mold is good enough for more than one piece. 

How would you like a hummingbird fluttering around your hand all day?  This sterling silver inlaid hummingbird ring was handmade by Zuni Jeweler Tamara Pinto.  The wings are Sleeping Beauty malachite and pink mussel shell, the face is Sleeping Beauty turquoise and red coral, The body is abalone, and tail is Sleeping Beauty turquoise and gold lip mother of pearl. All of the stones are engraved to simulate feathers.  What a treasure!  More about hummingbirds below.

Hummingbirds are fierce defenders of their families.  Many Indigenous people consider them to be messengers between this world and the spirit world.  And, in some tribes they are considered to be “love medicine”.

This Rainbow of Stones Necklace was made by Navajo jeweler Helen Tsosie.  The stones include turquoise, lapis, amethyst, spiny oyster shell, agate, serpentine, mother of pearl, tiger eye, amber, jasper, and abalone with heishi between each stone.  All of this beauty ends with a sterling silver beads, cones, and a hook and eye clasp, along with a 2.75" sterling silver extender.

Two sterling silver feathers dangle from these bright blue turquoise set in sterling silver posts.  They were handmade by Navajo jeweler Annie Spencer.

This stunning sterling silver bracelet was created by Navajo jeweler Gilbert Smith.  In the center is a natural turquoise stone with dark gray matrix.  On each side is a detailed eagle feather with scroll work.  Inside the silver band is twisted silver.

This classic sterling silver Navajo ring has a lovely sky blue turquoise.  Around the bezel is a border of twisted sterling and sterling silver that has been cut out by hand.  The band is double shank.

Navajo artist Tom Dinetso created this Flowers All Around ring.  A perfect reminder of summertime flowers long after they are gone.  Each flower and leaf is crafted by hand and they are separated by three silver dots.

Navajo jeweler Bobby Platero created this sterling silver Flower cigar band ring.  The flower and raised side water drop shaped are repousse crafted.  Cigar band rings are wider in front and narrower in back, making them very comfortable to wear.

This lovely Navajo inlaid sterling silver quail bracelet and ring are perfect for bird lovers!  The stones in each are the same with turquoise, coral, Mother of Pearl, and shell.  Stamp-work details are on the topknot, the left side of the wing, and on the bottom branch.  Stones on the wing and parts of the body have engraved details.  Stamped "JM" and "STERLING" on the bottom.  We estimate it was made in the 1980s.  Will consider selling separately.

These Vintage Turquoise Bear & Feather Earrings were part of a collection of vintage Native American jewelry.  We estimate that they were made in the 1980s.   Above each bear is pen shell heishi and below are two sterling silver feathers (not handmade).  They dangle from sterling silver wires.  The patina on the silver accumulates with age but can be polished off if the wearer prefers shinier silver.

The natural turquoise stones are set in sterling silver.  They have a detailed silver on one side and a cobblestone like border on the other side.  A stamped flower sits at the top.  The silver has a patina that comes with age which can easily be cleaned if the wearer would prefer them bright and shiny.  They dangle from sterling silver wires. We estimate they were made in the 1950s or 1960s.
