She is so well carved for being so tiny!  Michel Laweka carved her out of deer antler.  She has a tall Zuni pot (olla) on her head, is wrapped in a blanket that has inlaid turquoise dots, and she has inlaid red coral for her mouth.

Size: 2" H x .5" W

There are traditional Zuni olla maiden dances that occur each year.  The women have from medium to very large handmade pots balanced on their heads as they dance.  This olla maiden reminds us of the importance of moving through the world with grace and balance.

Traditionally, Zuni carvings are symbolically fed cornmeal.   Each Zuni fetish comes in a box with a descriptive card and a tiny bit of corn meal to tide them over until they reach you.

This carving was part of a large collection of Zuni carvings which were purchased between 1998 and 2016.
